Bordissot Blanca Rimada Fig Tree

A beautifully striped fig that has a very stable variegation on its figs. Very similar to Panache, and many folks say they’re the same, but we’ve always had our stock plants labeled different and it does seem like the Bordissot Blanca Rimada ripens a bit earlier than Panache.

One of the easiest fruits to grow, and a true gourmet delight, you should not live your life without feasting on this sweet, delectable fruit. To fully enjoy fresh Figs you must grow your own. When fully ripe and at their tender, shipping them long distances is virtually impossible. Another plus for Figs – deer don’t like them (most of the time)!

The presence of FMV in all cultivated figs has become widely accepted, as even the national germplasm repository for figs maintained by the USDA has Fig Mosaic Virus. If the presence of FMV is a concern, then purchasing fig trees may not be the best option for you.

As far as we've been able to tell, this clone does not produce figs without pollination. We're sure if it's even a female fig, it could be a caprifig but we haven't cut open any dropped figs. Growers folks in California and other Blastophaga blessed regions might get edible figs off this, otherwise it is a funky addition to the landscape for its unique foliage.

But that doesn't mean it isn't a great variety! The figs and branches are still very striped even when the foliage is not variegated and the figs are some of the largest of any striped fig we've seen. They start out looking like a Panache fig with vibrant stripes that eventually fade to be nearly invisible once the skin ripens to being a deep black and a bright red flesh. So far we've only received main crop figs from Jolly Tiger that ripened mid season and were incredibly delicious.

Unique Collections – Figs

An ever changing selection of figs from our collection that we are either still trialing, eventually introducing, or are culling from the herd.

Brief descriptions of currently listed varieties:

De la Roca:  an intensely delicious berry flavored fig, from the collection of Monsterat Pons where every fig in the collection seems to have incredible flavor. This one takes a while to start producing and is usually too late for us here in the PNW so we will likely not grow it much in the future.

187-25: a selection from the USDA’s collection. It is supposed to be a very good fig, but ripens too late for us.

LSU Strawberry: an unofficial LSU release with a tasty strawberry flavor to it. This one seems to be on the later side of ripening, but we aren’t giving up on it just yet.

Guavaberry: a wild collected fig from California, said to have a guava flavor to it. Not sure how it will do in cooler climates yet, so still trialing it.

Bordisott Blanca Negra: intensely flavorful! Another one of the supremely delicious Spanish figs. Has a nice striping on it, especially before its fully ripe, that isn’t as distinct as many of the striped figs but is beautiful nonetheless. Pretty late, but tasty enough and beautiful enough that we’ll keep growing it.

Belmont’s Beauty: another California seedling that is reportedly common, but we have not yet seen figs here after a number of years growing it. They’re not dropping, we just haven’t seen any figs form yet. Reportedly quite delicious.
